Siemens has launched a new industrial tablet PC that is reported to be the fastest on the market, powered as it is by an Intel Core i5 Skylake processor and a 10.1″ display with PCap multi-touch and 1280 x 800 resolution. RAM is 4GB or 8GB, with SSD up to 128GB and connections include ethernet and USB Type-C as well as mini Displayport. The tablet has a 5,900 mAh battery that is rated as having 5.5 hours of battery life. Weight is a hefty 1.6kg.
There is an optional docking station.
Analyst Comment
Different Siemens sources gave different versions of the spec, with one release highlight maximum memory of 16GB and up to 512GB of SSD.
We also saw a report from Asia that Siemens has released new Simatic flat panel monitors as well as some new ‘Panel PCs’. The monitors are available in 15″, 19″ and 22″ sizes with PCap touch. However, we were unable to find recent information and the products were released in 2013, so we think that this was just a regional release. (BR)
