Sharp Teases New Flagship Handset with Flexible OLED at IFA 2018

Sharp brought its latest flagship smartphone handset to the IFA 2018 conference in Berlin this week, ahead of the device’s official launch. Codenamed “Johnny”, the device, currently known by its model number 801SH, features a 6.2″ notch-design flexible AMOLED display, with a resolution of 3120 × 1440.

The device runs Android 9 Pie, powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset and 6GB RAM, with 128GB internal storage. Unlike most premium smartphones currently on the market, the 801SH features a single-lens 23MP primary camera. Technical information regarding the internal camera or authentication features isn’t yet known.

Pricing information has also not been announced, but several reports indicate that the device is encased in plastic rather than metal or glass. It has been suggested that the 801SH could launch as early as next week in Japan, with a European release following shortly after so, hopefully, we’ll know more soon.
