Sharp has helped the development of Super Hi-Vision by releasing in Japan the 8C-B60A 8K camcorder which has a Super 35mm sensor and can record at 10 bit with 60fps in 4:2:2 using the Grass Valley HQX codec although the camera comes with a 2TB SSD pack that can hold 40 minutes of video. A PL lens mount can take Zeiss and Leica lenses. For more check out the video below.
Sharp worked with Astro Design and NHK to develop the product as it works to develop an 8K ecosystem. It is also working on cheaper concepts as the new camcorder costs $77,000.
As well as video use, Sharp expects sales in industrial and security applications.
