Sharp Creates New Commercial Director Role for Growing Visual Solutions Business

Sharp Europe has appointed Birgit Jackson (formerly Birgit Sommerer) in the newly created role of Commercial Director for Sharp’s Visual Solutions business. Birgit will define Sharp’s product line-up and portfolio strategy for the European sales regions, and drive Sharp’s marketing and communication strategy.

Birgit joins Sharp following almost nine years at NEC, where she rose to Head of the Product Management Team, and brings over 20 years of experience in EMEA and global product management. Birgit’s first projects will include new campaigns for BIG PAD, Sharp’s leading range of interactive displays.

Birgit joins at a time of growth for Sharp’s Visual Solutions business. Sharp is investing in its total product range, and at ISE 2017, unveiled its broadest ever portfolio to date. This included digital signage solutions for the mass market through to unique video walls for luxury retail and interactive displays from entry-level to high end.

Sharp Visual Solutions is benefitting from investment in Sharp Corporation by Foxconn, which led to Sharp Corporation achieving an operating profit in 2016 for the first time in three years.

Birgit said, “Sharp has made big steps over the last 12 months, strengthening its offering in areas such as smart LFD. For me this is an ideal time to join Sharp – I am inspired by both the start-up energy of the Visual Solutions division, and the support and structure of Sharp Corporation. We are an established brand, but in Visual Solutions we have the mindset of a challenger brand and I believe we have a big role to play in the future of the AV industry.”

Sid Stanley, General Manager, Visual Solutions, said: “At Sharp we believe people are our strongest asset. Birgit brings a wealth of experience to our Visual Solutions business, and we look forward to her shaping the success of our new product portfolio and positioning, so that we can continue to increase our market share and be considered a significant vendor.”
