Sharp Boosts Panel Sales to UMC

Nikkei reported that Sharp will become the main supplier of panels to UMC of Slovakia, which currently runs and makes TVs for the Sharp TV brand in Europe. Sharp is reported to be looking at a ‘capital partnership’ with UMC to help to develop the sales of Sharp TVs in Europe. The report also confirmed that Samsung is buying panels from Sakai Display Products (SDP), the Sharp/Foxconn LCD fab in Japan. (BR)
