Epson Brings UltraHD to Ultimicron

At the CP+ 2015 show (12th – 15th February in Pacifico Yokohama, Japan), Seiko Epson will show an UltraHD LCD panel for electronic viewfinder applications. The newest Ultimicron unit will be used in cameras in the near future. It has more than 4.4 million dots and a refresh rate double that of conventional EVFs, said Epson. Colour reproduction is also said to be improved 30% compared to older units.

Analyst Comment

We suspect that the term “UltraHD” is being misused here. After all, a truly UltraHD (3840 x 2160) display has 8 million pixels, not 4.4 million. (BR)
