SDC Launches a New Platform for OLED Material Simulation

What They Say

ET Times reported that Samsung Display has established a new platform, called ‘Sync-OLED’) to allow its business partners to evaluate materials that might be usable in OLED displays. The service is free for Samsung’s business partners, but available to licence for others. The firm worked with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) Supercomputing Application Center.

Solus Advanced Materials, a supplier of OLED materials, is working with Samsung. Said Tae-hyung Kim, Executive Director of Solus Advanced Materials Electronic Materials Business Division said

“As Solus Advanced Materials has been interested in predicting material performance in the mid to long term, this system construction attempt will be a good model for win-win cooperation. We will contribute to the development of OLED industries by developing high-efficiency organic materials using the Samsung Display simulation platform.” he said.

What We Think

Hmmm… This looks like a useful facility, that would need a lot of expertise and money to set up, but it’s beyond my pay grade to understand how the IP issues would work in this kind of arrangement. (BR)
