French company Scale-1 Portal will introduce a VR projection solution at CES in January, which brings owners right into the action.
‘SCALee’ is a Windows 10 PC, UST projector and camera, housed in a single chassis. Content is projected onto a wall as a 3m-wide screen and can be interacted with using the camera. A VR headset is not required, although 3D glasses are.
Future Runner, an obstacle-course and battle race game, is pre-installed on the device. More games and experiences are being developed, and an SDK is available. A video can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/q2o4zxr.
A crowd-funding campaign will be launched in January, where a small number of pre-orders, for prototype models, can be placed. These prototypes will be shipped in February. A full consumer release is scheduled for Q4’16.
