Samsung has new versions of its Notebook 9 with a 13.3″ or 15″ display and with the 13.3″ claimed to be the lightest in its class at 1.8lbs (0.81kg) and with a slim bezel display. Both feature FullHD resolution displays with 350 cd/m² of brightness (500 cd/m² in outdoor mode) and with 95% coverage of sRGB. Unusually, the company specifies a delta-E colour accuracy of less than 2.5.
The processor is a 7th gen (Kaby Lake) Intel iCore (i3, i5 or i7 in the 13.3″, i7 in the 15″) with Intel graphics and HDR video support. Memory goes up to 8GB on the 15″ and up to 16GB on the 13.3″ depending on the processor. Storage is up to 256GB of SSD. Battery life is quoted at 7 hours, and a fast charger and charge the device in 80 minutes and can get 2.1 hours of use from 20 minutes charging. There is a USB Type-C for charging.
The notebook has an HDMI port for external graphics as well as two USB 3.0 and a single USB 2.0. There is an integrated fingerprint reader.
Analyst Comment
It was unclear whether the USB Type-C supports the DisplayPort Alt-mode. We tried to get the information from Samsung’s pre-sales support team using chat, but we gave up! We’ll try to check at CES. (BR)
