Samsung Unveils 2024 QLED Lineup and Transparent MicroLED Display

Samsung has unveiled its 2024 lineup of Neo QLED 8K and 4K TVs at CES 2024. The centerpiece of this lineup is the new NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, featuring a neural processing unit (NPU) that is twice as fast as its predecessor and has eight times more neural networks, jumping from 64 to 512.

Key features of the Neo QLED range include 8K AI Upscaling Pro, leveraging the NQ8 AI Gen3; AI Motion Enhancer Pro, which addresses common issues in sports content like ball distortion; and Real Depth Enhancer Pro, adding details to fast-moving scenes and making images appear more three-dimensional.

The 2024 lineup also emphasizes audio quality with the introduction of Q-Symphony, allowing synchronization of multiple wireless speakers and a soundbar with the TV. Another notable feature is the Active Voice Amplifier Pro, an AI-driven dialogue booster that enhances on-screen voices.

Tizen OS and Gaming Hub

Samsung has also updated its Tizen OS, offering a more personalized content experience. The OS now supports different user profiles for customized recommendations. Samsung TV Plus comes with a revamped user interface, while the new Designed for Samsung Gaming Hub controller, developed in collaboration with Performance Designed Products (PDP), features a built-in rechargeable battery and various user-friendly buttons.

In addition, Samsung is enhancing its ecosystem connectivity. Samsung Daily+ acts as a hub for in-home activities, offering services like workout tracking, TechnoGym, and F45 for fitness, FlexIt for live sessions, and Dr.Tail for veterinary consultations. The Multi Control feature allows users to control their devices, including TVs and smartphones, with a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse.

Samsung’s 2024 TV models also offer improved compatibility with other devices in the Samsung ecosystem. Mobile Smart Connect, 360 Audio, and Vibrary are some of the features enhancing user experience. The lineup also includes accessibility features like Audio Subtitle, Remote for Barrier Free, and Relumino Together Mode.

A First in MicroLED: Transparent Displays

Furthermore, Samsung is pushing the boundaries of display technology with its transparent MicroLED. Samsung is showcasing different designs of the transparent MicroLED displays, including some with tinted glass and others as transparent as regular glass, with a frameless design. The models showcased at CES are prototypes.

Samsung’s OLED TV offerings for 2024 have been expanded. The S95D, an ultra-large 77-inch model, is brighter and features Pantone Validated AI-enhanced color accuracy. New models S90D and S85D are also introduced in various sizes. The OLED TVs incorporate OLED Glare Free technology to improve viewing in bright conditions.

In the lifestyle product category, Samsung introduces enhancements to The Frame, now with more artworks and a new art streaming feature. The Premiere 8K Projector and The Freestyle 2nd Gen are other notable additions, each offering unique features like wireless connectivity and Smart Edge Blending for expanded usability.
