What They Say
Sixteen-nine.net has reported that a company called AdMobilize has developed software integration to support audience analytics on Samsung’s SoC (System-on-Chip) digital signage powered by Tizen OS1. The DailyDOOH blog said that “Customers buying the latest Samsung Smart Signage powered by Tizen OS can now run AdMobilize’s audience analytics software without the need for an additional PC or processor.”
Sixteen-nine said that Samsung has its own analytics software, as an add-on to MagicInfo, the Samsung CMS, but it does not have the same functionality in audience analytics.
What We Think
As I have reported over the years, DOOH was unlucky in arriving around the same time as online advertising which always had a high level of analytics available. That made online advertising more attractive to media buyers as they felt they could tell what impact their spending had. It has taken some time for digital signage to develop good analytics and privacy concerns can still stop it operating as widely as it might. The development also shows how the integrated ‘smarts’ of displays has developed over the years. (BR)
