Samsung Showcases Collaborative Classroom Technology at TCEA 2015

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is highlighting its fully integrated one-to-one learning package – Samsung School – at TCEA 2015 this week, as well as its full suite of education products and solutions including Galaxy tablets and smartphones, Chromebooks and classroom displays.

Samsung will also host informative sessions to help educators create dynamic learning environments with more engaging curricula using technology in booth #1132 at the Austin Convention Center.

“Samsung is committed to powering education by empowering educators and Samsung School honors that commitment by providing a solution that not only makes learning more personalized for students, but helps teachers easily and effectively manage their classrooms,” said Ted Brodheim, vice president of vertical business at Samsung Electronics America. “Samsung School offers greater control and fosters collaboration by integrating the technology that helps students develop the 21st century skills necessary for their futures in higher education and the workforce.”

Samsung School combines Samsung Galaxy tablets, large-format classroom displays and other technology, melded together with powerful interactive management software to create a student-centric learning environment. Designed to make classrooms more integrated and participatory, Samsung School provides teachers with tools such as screen sharing, student screen monitoring and device control to make one-to-one learning programs easier to manage.

Lexington County School District Two (Lexington Two) in the Columbia, S.C. area is currently deploying Samsung School district-wide, adopting a one-to-one program in every classroom in grades K-12. With several Title I schools in the district, Lexington Two opted to implement one-to-one to help provide equal technology access and improve learning outcomes regardless of socioeconomic standing. By the end of next year, the district expects to have each of its more than 9,000 students outfitted with a personal Galaxy tablet.

“Lexington Two students are digital natives and use technology in their everyday lives,” said Janet Dedmon, district instructional technology facilitator at Lexington County School District Two. “Through our one-to-one program with Samsung School, we’re able to extend their affinity for technology to the classroom, resulting in more engagement, better performance and increased excitement for learning.”

With deployments in nearly 50 countries worldwide, schools have experienced tremendous success with Samsung School. When Doddridge County Schools (read case study) in West Virginia saw increased engagement after deploying Samsung School to its middle school classrooms last spring, the district decided to roll out a similar initiative in its high school this school year. The Alternative School for Math & Science (watch video) in Corning, N.Y. is the first independent school in the U.S. to adopt the full Samsung School solution across all grades, helping it to take its personalized learning model to the next level.

Educators are invited to join the Samsung Learning Innovation Sessions in booth #1132 at TCEA Wednesday through Friday. Sessions will be hosted by solution providers – including BrainPop, Eduscape Learning, Game Desk, Knomadix, Pearson, Smart Ed Pad, SOTI and STEM Fuse – and teachers, administrators and IT managers can learn how to make learning more personalized, deliver special education through tablets, digitally covert traditional paper worksheets and more.
