Samsung Sells 2 Million Galaxy J8 and J6 Smartphones

Samsung India’s recently launched Galaxy J8 and J6 smartphones have become hugely popular, with sales crossing the 2 million unit level in the country, the company has announced.

The J8 features a 6″ display with a 720 × 1480 resolution and 293 pixels per inch in an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It runs Android 8.0, powered by a Snapdragon 450 chipset, 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. A micro SD card can also be used to expand storage by up to 256GB.

Its camera set-up includes a 16MP + 5MP dual-lens rear camera capable of capturing video at 1080p30 and a 16MP internal camera.

Meanwhile, the J6 includes a display with the same resolution, aspect ratio and pixel density as the J8, but comes in at a smaller 5.6″. It’s powered by an Exynos 7870 Octa chipset, up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB internal storage, but comes in a cheaper variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Both models also include a micro SD card slot.

The cameras also see a downgrade in the switch from the J8 to the J6, with a single-lens 13MP rear camera (still capable of shooting video in 1080p at 30 fps) and an 8MP internal camera.

The Galaxy J8 is available at INR 18,990 ($276), and the Galaxy J6 64GB and 32GB are available at INR 15,990 ($232) and INR 13,990 ($203) respectively
