The Elec reports that a new OLED display for a budget Samsung smartphone for the Southeast Asia market, the M54, is being developed by BOE and CSOT. It is unclear whether SDC will also develop a panel, the report said, as it is said to have supplied panels for the preceding M53 model, along with BOE.
The blog also said that Samsung had recently switched the A24, planned for 2023, to an OLED from LCD and that panel will be exclusively supplied by SDC and could reach 20 million units.
What We Think
The predecessor model, the M53, was launched in April of this year, so the M54 is not expected before Q2 in 2023. It uses a flexible Super AMOLED display with 120Hz (BR)
