The OLED Association has published data, attributed to IHS showing the extent to which Samsung’s TV sales fell away and are expected to continue to do so in 2018. The chart highlights that while Samsung sales hit a peak in 2016, LGE, Sony and Panasonic have been broadly flat, while Sharp, TCL, Hisense and Haier have been the main winners. In China Skyworth is slightly down as is Changhong, with Konka and TP Vision flat. In the US, Vizio’s volume is expected to be well down in 2018 after falling in 2017.
The organisation also showed an interesting forecast of TV set sales by size which shows 40″ and above sets going over 50% of the market by volume this year and continuing to increase to over 60% by 2021.
