Samsung Reorganises Mobile Unit

Samsung Electronics has announced its annual reorganisation in a bid to strengthen the company’s operations. The company has decided to maintain its leadership team of three CEOs to continue their independent leadership of the Consumer Electronics (CE), T & Mobile Communications (IM) and Device Solutions (DS) Divisions.

The major changes will affect the IM division, where the Media Solution Center (MSC) and the Global B2B Center (GBC) are to be integrated “in order to increase the speed of their market response and decision-making processes”. The reorganisation also included the merger of Samsung Electronics America and Samsung Telecommunications America. Among the company’s 10 regional headquarters worldwide, two regional headquarters have new presidents, including executive VP Young Hoon Eom who is now the president of the European regional headquarters.

Prior to the announcement it was reported that around 30% of the workforce in the mobile business would lose their jobs or be reassigned jobs elsewhere within the company, including senior executives (Large Display Monitor Vol 21 No 47).
