In a Korean language video (with English subtitles), Samsung gave some background about the the development of its Odyssey Neo G9 miniLED gaming monitor. The video highlighted:
- the small sized LEDs with WCG – although described as ‘Quantum LEDs’, the LEDs were not identified as using quantum dots for colour conversion
- The 2048 local dimming zones that use a 12 bit luminance scale
During product planning, the firm said, it visited game companies to request support for 32:9 aspect ratio.
What We Think
In the end, this 8 minute piece really is just a marketing piece, despite the promise of some background. It’s nice to give the engineers some kudos, but otherwise, you could save yourself 8 minutes. (BR)
