What They Say
Reuters (and other sources) reported that Samsung, in its annual year end management shake-up, has named two co-chief executives to run the business rather than three. One is Han Jong-hee, the head of visual display business, who will become a co-CEO, leading a newly merged division spanning mobile and consumer electronics as well as continuing to lead the television business. His experience has been on the CE side of the business with no experience in mobile.
Kyung Kye-hyun, chief executive of component affiliate Samsung Electro-Mechanics and a former head of the flash memory chip and technology team, was named co-CEO to lead the chip and components division.
What We Think
It’s not clear what the effect will be of combining the leadership of the two divisions of mobile and CE, but, no doubt, there will be some change. This change is, as we used to say. ‘above the cloud layer’. (BR)
