Flip phones are about to make a comeback, albeit only in China, with the Samsung Leader 8.
This modern take on the classic flip style features two 4.2″ Full HD Super AMOLED displays on the front and back of the flip top, a 12-megapixel rear camera with f/1.7 aperture and a front-facing 5-megapixel f/1.9 lens for selfies.
The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, features 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage and a microSD slot for further expansion.
The Leader 8 runs Android Nougat and comes with Samsung’s Bixby voice-controlled AI, Samsung Pay, S Voice, a rear-situated fingerprint reader and a touchscreen keyboard with old-school T9 predictive text.
There’s no word on a release date or price as of yet, but due to the form factor’s lack of popularity in the West, the Leader 8 is exclusive to China for the time being.
