What They Say
Laptop Magazine had a look at the current state of rumours about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4. It concludes that
- it will be released in August
- It is likely to be cheaper based on lower cost displays, perhaps by $200
- It may be a slightly different shape, slightly wider, shorter and thicker
- It will not have a ‘silo’ for a pen
- It may have improved UTG
- The fingerprint sensor won’t move from the power button
- Cameras will be upgraded for a 50MP main camera and a 3X telephoto (DSCC expects 108MP for the main one)
- APU performance will be slightly better
- Sales will be significantly higher than the Z Fold 3
What We Think
The article quotes Ross Young of DSCC as forecasting the boost in the Fold 4 and at the SID/DSCC Business Conference he reported that SDC is targeting a 110% increase in foldable displays in 2022 and also said that the initial production forecasts from June to August 2022 are 142% higher than for the Z Fold 3. The Fold 3 is selling dramatically fewer units than the Flip 3 and a price adjustment is likely. (BR)
