Samsung Disputes Insurer’s Bent Phone Claim

Insurance firm SquareTrade recently put the HTC One M9, iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge through bending tests. Both the iPhone and Galaxy were found to bend – but while the iPhone deformed a little, the Galaxy’s display cracked. Samsung has disputed the test, saying that the 50kg of force in the test only occurs very rarely – 30kg is more common, when a phone is carried in the back pocket. Internal tests show that the S6 and S6 Edge do not bend under up to 32kg of force. The company also said that the results would have been very different had the force been applied to the back of the handset, rather than the front.
