What They Say
The Elec reported that Samsung Display is planning to make some prototype QD-OLED TVs in June as well as monitors. The samples will be sent to brands for a review of responses in September. The site said that bare panels had already been submitted to Samsung Electronics in January, but were considered to have too low luminance, so revised panels are to be submitted in April 2021.
The expected capacity of the QD-OLED fab will be 30K G8.5 substrates/month – around 20% of the capacity of LG’s TV OLED business.
What We Think
It’s so frustrating that there are currently no ‘secret back rooms’ at shows to see this kind of prototype. (BR)
