The Elec reported that Samsung Display confirmed at an industry event that QD OLED development is on track. The company held a ceremony in July to celebrate the installation of equipment at the fab where the technology is being developed.
What We Think
After Samsung Display’s previous attempt to get into large area OLED, I’m sure there was a huge amount of work done to be sure of the feasibility of the QD OLED project. As The Elec mentioned and we have previously reported, Samsung’s own TV business is not convinced that it wants to use QD OLED as it is working on QLED, miniLED and microLED already. That could, feasibly mean that the technology will be available first through other brands such as Sony and Panasonic, although I would be surprised if that happened in the end. (BR)
