LG Electronics has a new smartphone that uses dual screens and will be marketed as part of ‘Explorer Project’ as the ‘Wing’. In part of teaser video, there was a brief glimpse of a smartphone using a rollable display.
What We Think
The Wing is a new device that has two screens. The top 6.8″ display can be flipped to a landscape configuration and has no holes or notches. The lower display is a 3.9″ panel. The phone is said to be around the weight of a Samsung Galaxy 20. Applications need to be modified to work optimally so there is likely to be a bit of a ‘Chicken & Egg’ issue. It’s good to see some new ideas in form factors, but I’m not convinced the phone will drive big demand. It may depend on the price at which it is launched. The rollable teaser is interesting and could be interesting if used in a way like the Wing. (BR)
