To avoid potential legal issues, Samsung is to issue a software update that will stop Note 7 devices from charging so that the devices will become useless. Initially, Verizon said that it was not going to process the update, but has since rescinded this and will apply the update. Samsung will roll out the update in December, but in January a number of operators will process it. AT&T has said it will do this on Jan 5th and Sprint will wait to the 8th.
93% of the affected devices are reported to have been returned to Samsung.
