Samsung Sued Over S7 Edge Injury

Samsung’s phone problems are deepening. After problems with exploding batteries (read more here), the company issued a recall of its Galaxy Note 7 phones. However, the recall did not include the S7 Edge products and now the firm faces a product liability suit after a man claimed that he suffered second and third degree burns when his Galaxy S7 Edge caught fire in his back pocket.

Daniel Ramirez said that he heard “whistling and screeching”, felt vibration and saw smoke coming from his pocket. As he tried to retrieve the phone it exploded, burning his hand, thigh, groin and lower back.

The phone was not being charged at the time, so this may be a separate issue. But it looks as if Samsung will need to extend the recall to all its products which use a similar lithium-ion battery.
