What They Say
Samsung US said that it is expanding the range of parts, repair tools and guides that will be available to consumers. The repair guides are being developed with the iFixit website. Initially, the new programme will cover the e Galaxy S20 and S21 phone lines as well as the Galaxy Tab S7+. Faulty parts can be sent to Samsung for re-cycling and later the range of devices will be increased and iFixit said that it is working on S22 guides now.
The first parts to be made available are replacement display assemblies (with integrated batteries), back glass, and charge ports.
What We Think
Samsung is following on from announcements by Apple. (Apple Open to User Repairs). The programme was announced last year as starting in 2022, although as far as I am aware, the parts are not yet available. (BR)
