Rural USA has Fewer OTT Subscribers

There is a big difference in statistics on TV content provision between the USA as a whole and rural North America. 82% of rural households still use more traditional video service providers, with just 4% getting everything over the internet, according to a survey by Innovative Systems. The occupants of rural homes tend to have an older average age, with fewer children in the home.

In addition access to broadcast channels by antennae is more limited. Satellite providers lost 11% of market share, while independent TV companies gained 8%. 34% of homes took video streaming (up from 23% last year), and viewers increased the number of hours spent watching per week from 7.59 to 9.73.
