Roku Inc. announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2018 with total revenue of $136.6 million, an increase of 35.8%, compared to $100.1 million in Q1 2107. Net loss for Q1 2018 was $6.63 million compared to net loss of $8.70 million in Q1 2017.
In Q1 2018, Roku saw an increase of 106% in platform segment revenues which increased to $75.1 million compared to $36.4 million in Q1 2017. This increase in platform revenues was mainly driven by strong growth in advertising revenues. On the other hand, player segment revenues declined by 3% from $63.6 million to $61.4 million on a year on year (YoY) basis due to the company’s strategy of shifting mix to lower priced players.
Looking forward to outlook 2018, Company expects net revenues to be in the range of $135 million to $145 million for Q2 2018 and for the full year, net revenues will be in the range of $685 million to $705 million.
