Shenzhen MTC has joined the Roku TV licensing programme to build smart TVs under the JVC brand. MTC will leverage TV hardware reference designs and the Roku operating system to create a line of JVC smart TVs, with the first expected to ship in the US later this year.
The Roku TV licensing programme offers TV OEM partners a way to build smart TVs. The company provides hardware reference designs so TV brands can offer a smart TV solution at competitive prices. Roku OS provides consumers with a library of content, as well as regular, automatic software updates.

TCL, in particular, has done very well in the US by adopting the Roku operating system for its US TV business, but the OS is not available for TVs (although the sticks are supplied and supported). (BR)
