What They Say
Sixteen-nine.net has published the results of its survey about the need or desire for a replacement to the Digital Signage Expo (Let Dave Know your View). There is detail in the article, but this summarises the responses:
The digital signage ecosystem has a decidedly mixed opinion on whether or not a replacement event is needed for the now-defunct Digital Signage Expo, but there is a clear desire for some sort of event that allows industry people to gather in person.
What We Think
The survey considers time and location for an event. In the past, when we ran the DisplayForum conferences, I was responsible for the decision of “where and when” and that is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in business. There are so many considerations and many are the same for all events, so if you choose the right season and location, you find lots of other events have done the same and either the facilities are booked or are very expensive, or your delegates will be drawn to other events. We always used to survey delegates about the location and facilities, and I still remember the reaction when we got a complaint that ‘the bottled water from room service was expensive’. Hmmm…. we hadn’t checked that! (BR)
