What They Say
Research published in the journal ACS Applied Material Interfaces highlights the development of new OLED materials that avoid the use of heavy-atom-free materials. The material, called SiAz contains only carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and silicon atoms. The team claim that it achieved EQE of 4%, up, it says from less than 1% on other room temperature phosphoresence (RTP) by combining RTP and TADF. Author, Youhei Takeda told Phys.org
“Combining the two mechanisms (RTP and TADF) meant that we could alter the way an excitonic molecule undergoes transition between the spin- and energetically-different states to produce the overall characteristics that we wanted. Specifically, by tuning energy levels, our material can utilize thermal upconversion system to produce RTP.”
What We Think
It’s really impressive how much work is being done on OLED materials at the moment and how much progress is being made. (BR)
