Report: Apple Testing In-Display Fingerprint Sensor for iPhone

What They Say

PC Magazine, quoting the WSJ, reports that Apple is looking closely at using an under display fingerprint sensor that uses optical technology, rather than the ultrasonic technology used in the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which has Qualcomm’s version of the technology.

Apple declined to comment to the Journal, but the employees “stressed that whatever solution Apple went with, it would have to meet the security standards of its current Touch ID.”

What We Think

Well, it would be surprising if Apple wasn’t looking closely at this. The new Galaxy smartphones have been getting a very good press, as we have seen. Some will prefer fingerprints to face recognition. (BR)
