Anonymous sources from the Taiwan supply chain have revealed that Apple’s 2018 series of iPhones will not support USB-C as previously rumoured, but that the technology is planned for inclusion in the range scheduled for release in 2019.
The sources claim that the widespread adoption of USB-C in smartphones depends greatly on the popularity of Apple devices equipped with the technology. Apple has already adopted USB-C in its range of MacBooks — several other notebook manufacturers have since done the same.
