Reflect Systems, provider of award-winning digital signage experiences for retail, entertainment venues, healthcare providers and corporate communications environments, announced the introduction of its newest innovation, Zero Touch – the first-of-its-kind scalable, secure signage solution that provides users the ability to control interactive digital signage experiences directly from their mobile device.
Zero Touch is the first innovation to come from the company’s new research arm, Reflect Innovation Labs, which has a variety of new solutions slated to debut in 2021.
Zero Touch allows companies to turn any screen into an interactive experience, without requiring costly touch screens or additional hardware. After scanning a simple QR code displayed on the digital signage screen, users can select menu items, scroll through content, point with mouse-precision and even shop on the larger screen by taking control with their smartphone. Additionally, Zero Touch empowers users to extend their experience beyond the initial point of contact and continue their content journey and exploration on their own smart phones, further increasing exposure time for the brand.
“Deploying interactive experiences has historically been both costly and risky for companies looking to engage with users,” said David Kopaniky, head of Reflect Innovation Labs and senior director of advanced technologies. “Between the hardware required for implementation and people being much more touch-averse now, the need for a new solution has only grown. Zero Touch addresses that need by leveraging the one screen people are constantly touching and engaging with comfortably – their phone.”
With the exponential increase in online shopping during the pandemic, many retailers are searching for ways to bring the convenience and personalization of online shopping to physical stores. Interactive experiences through physical push-buttons, motion sensors or touch screens have been the primary way digital signage providers have met this need, requiring additional hardware that can limit deployment options. Zero Touch instead allows a company to make any screen interactive with a simple QR code and engage customers one-on-one, transforming and customizing each unique customer experience.
“While the use of mobile devices to control an interactive screen has been bubbling on the horizon of the digital signage market for years, implementation has posed a considerable technical challenge until now,” said Lee Summers, CEO at Reflect. “Zero Touch allows for simple, secure and scalable interactivity in a way that wasn’t previously possible.”
Zero Touch’s secure model doesn’t require users to join the same network as the media player powering the digital signage experience. Instead, an established secure connection is created between the mobile device and ReflectView—the company’s Internet-based cloud platform for digital signage—allowing information to be passed to other systems, while remaining fully protected and never retained by Reflect. Users are then able to access the content securely via their own cellular network provider or any available WIFI, enabling them to read consumer reviews, take surveys, search for information and more.
Other possible use cases for Zero Touch include:
- Retail sales assistance
- Customer service and support
- Express stores and zero inventory applications
- Associate training and corporate communications
- Gaming
“This is just a fraction of what Zero Touch could do for businesses across all industries,” said Kopaniky. “We’ve already seen tremendous interest from customers, and we’re thrilled to be leading the next generation of interactive technologies.”
Zero Touch is expected to officially launch later this year.
