What They Say
GSMArena reports that smartphone maker, Nubia, plans to release a Red Magic smartphone with more than 144Hz refresh. The site said that the Red Magic 5 was the first to offer 144Hz in March 2020. Alongside the Red Magic 6, the website is expecting the Red Magic Watch which was teased and previously spotted in an FCC listing that detailed its key specs and design.
What We Think
We really are getting to very fine points of differentiation in smartphones. I was quite sceptical about very high frame rates, but was impressed with an Asus demo at CES 2020 which seemed to show a clear difference between its 240Hz and 360Hz monitors. A friend that knows a lot about graphics challenged me to explain how the eye could see such a difference, but I struggled to explain it, so perhaps I should dig into it for a Display Daily. There is nothing like having to explain something to force one to learn all about it! (BR)
