Quanta Takes 360° Video Mainstream

We missed this when it was announced at Computex, but Quanta is trying to lower the cost of producing VR content with a smartphone add-on camera.

The camera, developed with Canada’s ImmerVision, is able to shoot and live stream (via WiFi) 360° video. It can be attached to any smartphone through a magnetic clip.

ImmerVision’s 360° x 187° ‘panomorph’ lens is used in the camera, using Sony’s 16MP Exmor HDR sensor. A USB port connects the camera to a phone and onboard storage is installed. ImmerVision’s digital field of view video stabilisation software is also included, meaning the camera can be used as a 360° wearable action camera.

Quanta has not announced a release date or price yet.
