Qualcomm is planning to cut 600 jobs worldwide as the company tries to refocus its business in new areas. The news comes at a difficult time for Qualcomm, which has been the subject of regulatory investigations into its business practices in China, the US and EU (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 26 & 44) and following a weaker than expected fiscal outlook for 2015.
A spokesman for the company was quoted as saying that the job losses were not related to the antitrust investigations but were a reflection on Qualcomm’s current business priorities.
