Qualcomm Adds Another Option for Windows

During the Computex show, Qualcomm announced with Samsung the Snapdragon 850 ‘mobile compute platform’ which includes the Snapdragon X20 improved modem and an AI engine. The chip is intended for use in Qualcomm-based Windows PCs. The architecture is engineered to support up to 30% system-wide increase in performance and up to 3X AI performance over the previous generation, as well as up to 1.2 gigabits per second LTE connectivity speeds and up to 25 hours of continuous usage or multi-day battery life under normal usage conditions, the company said.

The chip can also support UltraHD video capture and playback.and can run up to 2.95GHz.

Analyst Comment

As well as the 850, Qualcomm has the 845 chip which is an upgrade of the 835 that was used in the first wave of Qualcomm-based Windows PCs. (BR)
