The panel of the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance’s Post CES Review unanimously agreed that the number of sports and sub-genre OTT services will continue to grow, according to Advanced Television. NeuLion was named as one of the main OTT players regarding sports coverage.
In terms of the technology on show at CES 2018, which took place in Las Vegas earlier this month, the consensus was that Ultra HD technology dominated the event. Panellists highlighted LG’s rollable UHD OLED screen and Samsung’s “The Wall” as stand-outs. (LG Display Shows Rollable & 8K OLEDs)
However, the panel downplayed the potential of 8K, following reports that various manufacturers are developing 8K-capable sets and filing related trademarks. The panellists argued that users would have to sit extremely close to an 8K TV in order to see any real difference in pixel count and image quality. They also expressed doubts at the current feasibility of transmitting 8K signals to homes.
