We’ve published a press release today from Porotech that claims a breakthrough in creating a red microLED using InGan LED technology. (Porotech Creates World’s First Native Red InGaN Microdisplay).
What We Think
I covered the Porotech technology in a DD (Porotech Could be Disruptive) and subsequently the firm signed a deal with JBD – a significant endorsement as the firm has considerable experience of microdisplays. (Porotech Signs with JBD). The firm included an image of a red LED although it didn’t quote the brightness and it doesn’t look too bright in the picture. I usually take a good manual camera to events and have been able to get good images of JBD’s very bright microdisplays, but it’s not easy as they are so bright. I have reached out to the firm to check what they are quoting as the output. (BR)
Update: We got the specifications below and are still asking about the brightness.
