Analyst firm PMA Research collects monthly sell-through data from leading North American Flat Panel Pro AV dealers and distributors. Their Tracking Service family of monthly reports offers timely data and analysis on unit sales, true volume-weighted street prices, and inventories of professional flat panels for these channels.
Each month, PMA Research posts the “Top 5” Flat Panel Lists for the following Large-Format display product segments:
Professional 70-inch to 79-inch Displays – This “Top 5? list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Distributor Flat Panel Tracking Service panel, which is made up of North American AV and IT distributors. For 70” to 79” Flat Panels being sold through Distribution, Sharp took top honors in April with the number one selling LC-70LE661U. Samsung had a pair of displays make the “Top 5” list with the DM75E and ED75E coming in second and fourth, respectively. The E705 from NEC was the third best-selling model in April and LG rounded out the list with the 70UW340C coming in fifth.
In the professional market, Samsung remained #1 in sales in April with 34% unit share and 28% revenue share. NEC advanced to the #2 spot in revenue with 25% revenue share and LG advanced to the #2 spot in volume with 20% unit share. Sharp was the #3 brand in revenue with a 22% revenue share and NEC was the #3 brand in volume with 19% unit share.
Professional 50-inch to 65-inch Displays – This “Top 5? list is compiled from data collected from PMA’s monthly Pro AV Flat Panel Tracking Service panel, which is made up of North American dealers and integrators. For 50-inch to 65-inch Flat Panels being sold through the Pro AV channel, the April results showed the NEC V552 as the month’s top-selling model. Sharp followed in second with the LC-60LE661U. Samsung rounded out the April “Top 5” list with a trio of flat panels – the DM55E, ED65E and DC55E coming in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
NEC finished in the #1 spot in unit share with 29% and finished nearly tied with Sharp for the #1 spot in revenue share with 25%. Along with the top revenue share, Sharp finished #2 in unit share this month with 21%. Samsung came in third place for both categories.
