What They Say
Bloomberg interviewed ‘Ken’ Kutaragi, described as the inventor of the PlayStation, who is now the CEO of Ascent Robotics and AI firm. He said that he sees the metaverse concept as the wrong way for the world of technology to develop.
“Being in the real world is very important, but the metaverse is about making quasi-real in the virtual world, and I can’t see the point of doing it”
he told the service.
These days he is working on improving the software and sensors of robots so that they can match humans in understanding the world.
What We Think
Of course, he’s not the only one, but some of them are surprising. 3D graphics guru John Carmack (previously a CTO at Oculus) said that he had always been against the idea. Another is Peter Moore, Unity’s vice president and general manager of sports and live entertainment, who took part in a panel of CBox ‘pioneers’ . Others include, according to ‘The Information’, Snap’s Evan Spiegel and Niantic’s John Hanke. (BR)
