Digitimes reported that PlayNitride has developed a 1.58″ microLED display with a passive matrix driver IC developed with Solomon Systech (International) that can support up to 256 x 256 resolution (up from 128 x 128 on previous drivers). PlayNitride hopes to commercialise the display in 2022 as the new driver is said to accelerate development.
The firm is also showing an 11.6″ automotive microLED with 2480 x 960 resolution with 228ppi.
The report also said that PlayNitiride is looking for an IPO in 2022.

Smartwatches with this scale of display size are still expected to be among the first volume applications of microLED. (BR)
