Planar has added a new model to its range of large-format UltraHD displays, with a 50″ unit. The EP5014K joins existing 58″ and 65″ screens, and is available with (EP5014K-T) or without touch.
The display is designed for 24/7 use. It will show UltraHD at 60fps, via DisplayPort or 4x HDMI. Multiple sources can also be displayed on the screen at the same time.
To enhance its use as a signage product, Planar has built an OPS slot in to the EP5014k. As well as DisplayPort, HDMI (x4) and OPS, the unit features VGA, USB 2.0 (x2), USB 3.0, RJ45 and RS232 ports. Touch is enabled via IR. Bezel width is 21mm, or 19mm on the touch version.
Other than bezel width, the displays are identical. They use a VA panel (4,000:1 contrast ratio, 178° viewing angles, 9.5ms response time) and edge-LED backlight (550 cd/m²). Refresh rate is 60Hz. They can display 10-bit colour.
Planar has not announced pricing for the displays yet.
