AV specialist Pixel Projects has supplied solutions for Google’s new shop-in-shop in Currys PC World on Tottenham Court Road, London (Google Opens Shop-in-Shop in London), where customers can try out new interactive installations. One of these is a Portal panoramic display (110° faceted angle), with software from End Point; using a joystick, shoppers can navigate around the world using Google Maps. The other installation is the Google Doodle Wall, where budding artists can create digital art on a large surface. Both use 55″ NEC displays in a 3×4 and 3×3 configuration. The displays are the X554UNS, with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 500cd/m² of brightness. A major criteria for their selection was NEC’s on-site warranty, as well as their power usage and heat output – in-line with Google’s environmentally-friendly brief.
