Philips Delivers Freesync on Curved Display

EPI, the brand licensee for Philips monitors in North America, has announced a new curved (4,000R) display featuring AMD’s Freesync technology. The unit is a 27″ ‘Brilliance’ monitor (279X6QJNS), with an MVA panel.

SmartImage presets are featured, which optimise content for – for instance – office, photo, game or film use. Flicker-free technology is also built in.

Display resolution is 1920 x 1080. The MVA panel provides a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 178° viewing angles and a 14ms response time – lowered to 4ms when SmartResponse is enabled (both grey-to-grey). Brightness is 300 cd/m².

DisplayPort, MHL-HDMI (MHL capable of carrying 1920 x 1080 video at 60fps) and VGA ports are featured. The monitor is mounted on a stand that can tilt between -5° and 20°.

EPI is selling the 279X6QJNS now, for $350.
