What They Say
LG Display made a lot of noise around CES about its OLED EX panels but TV makers have been less enthusiastic about trumpeting the use of the technology. However, the Philips TVs sold by TPVision wlll use the panel in the new OLED807 in 48″, 55″, 65″ and 77″ sizes. Refresh rate is up to 120Hz with ALLM and VRR and it uses the 6th generation P5 processor. The OS is Android-based.
What We Think
HDTV Test said in its video about the announcement that the increased brightness is ‘because of the elimination of some sensing lines’. I haven’t heard that anywhere else and LG Display has said its because of its Deuterium and AI-based optimisation (Deuterium in OLED). I guess that if the AI could better track what is happening at the pixel level, you might not need to actually check what the state of the pixel is. If I can dig out more, I will do. Philips’ own release pointed to the LGD Deuterium point. (BR)
