Pegatron Technology recorded Q2 net profits of NT$3.69 billion ($121.5 million), down from NT$4.65 billion ($153.3 million) a year earlier, on turnover which fell to NT$240.38 billion ($7.3 billion) from NT$224.65 billion ($7.4 billion). For the first six months there were profits of NT$7.84 billion ($258.5 million), a drop from NT$9.49 billion ($312.9 million), on revenue of NT$479.38 billion ($15.8 billion), a decrease of 0.3% from NT$481.03 billion ($15.9 billion).
The company said that 11% of its Q2 sales were from consumer electronics and 66% from communication products. It added that notebook and desktop sales were weak due to falling demand and higher component prices. However, Pegatron predicts higher consumer electronics shipments in Q3 with strong growth to follow, despite possible component shortages.
