Dell has recently unveiled its impressive 40-inch UltraSharp U4025QW monitor (folow the link for my extensive review), a feature-packed display that caters to a wide range of user needs. This monitor is designed to excel in various scenarios, including video and photo editing, TV watching, gaming, GIS analysis, page layout, and collaborative real-time work. For Display Daily readers, I think it is a prime example of what goes into making a complete IT monitor, one that covers the range of customers that a company like Dell has to address.
The UltraSharp U4025QW boasts a 5K resolution (5120×2160) with a 21:9 aspect ratio, delivering an incredible level of detail across its expansive curved screen. With a pixel density of 140 PPI, users can easily view the smallest fonts, intricate details in GIS or satellite images, CAD drawings, and the tiniest pixels in photo or video editing applications.
The monitor’s IPS black panel offers exceptional color accuracy, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 color space and featuring a 2000:1 contrast ratio for deeper blacks. It also meets the VESA Display HDR 600 standard, ensuring a bright and vibrant viewing experience with 600 nits of brightness.
Eye comfort is a top priority for the UltraSharp U4025QW, with features such as reduced blue light emission (certified by TUV Rheinland), a 120 Hz refresh rate, and ambient light sensing. The anti-glare screen with 3H hardness provides additional protection and reduces eye strain.
The monitor’s wide viewing angles (178 degrees on every axis) make it ideal for collaborative work or shared viewing experiences. It also offers a range of ergonomic adjustments, including swivel, tilt, and height adjustment.
With a fast response time of 8 ms (or 5 ms in fast mode) and a 120 Hz refresh rate, the UltraSharp U4025QW is capable of handling gaming as well, further expanding its versatility.
The monitor comes equipped with two 9W speakers and an audio output line port, allowing users to choose between the built-in speakers or their preferred audio setup. Dell’s Color Management software enables the creation, storage, and management of ICC profiles, ensuring accurate color representation across various devices.
As a hub monitor, the UltraSharp U4025QW offers a range of connectivity options, including USB-C, USB-B, HDMI, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt 4. The Thunderbolt 4 connection allows for daisy-chaining of two U4025QW monitors and provides up to 140W of power through a single cable.
The monitor’s iMST feature enables content from a single connected PC to be split into two screens, enhancing multitasking capabilities. Additionally, the network KVM function allows users to work across two PCs simultaneously, improving productivity and enabling remote control operations.
Dell’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the UltraSharp U4025QW, which meets various environmental standards such as EnergyStar, TCO Certified Edge, and EPEAT Gold registration. The company uses sustainable materials in both production and packaging processes.
The Dell 40-inch UltraSharp 40 Curved Thunderbolt Hub Monitor (U4025QW) is priced at $1,919 and became available globally on February 27, 2024. A smaller 34-inch version is also available at $819.
The Dell UltraSharp U4025QW is a versatile and feature-rich monitor that caters to a wide range of applications, from professional editing and analysis to gaming and entertainment. Its impressive specifications, connectivity options, and commitment to sustainability make it a compelling choice for users seeking a high-performance, all-in-one display solution.
